Asstistant Professor of Spanish
Eastern Michigan University seeks a tenure-track assistant professor of Spanish
to begin teaching in Fall 2009. The ideal candidate will have Ph.D. in hand
by August 2009, with a specialization in Spanish linguistics, socio-linguistics,
or Second Language Acquisition. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and
English is required. Minority and female candidates are expressly encouraged
to apply. The following characteristics are highly desirable: 1) experience
teaching Spanish language, socio-linguistics, linguistics, and/or foreign
language methodology; 2) a record of teaching excellence; 3) research potential;

Assistant Professor of Spanish
Kennesaw State University is accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure
track Assistant Professor position in Spanish in the Department of Foreign

Director, Foreign Language Resource Center
Kennesaw State University is accepting applications for a Director of the
Foreign Languages Resource Center. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track position
with an appointment as administrative faculty. Position renewable yearly.
Primary responsibilities: to assist faculty with the use of multi-media technologies
in their teaching; to supervise the Critical Languages Program; to teach one
class per semester in one of the languages offered in the Department. The
successful candidate must hold a Master's degree (doctoral degree preferred)
with a minimum of 18 semester graduate hours in one of the languages offered
by the Department. Candidates must have experience in working in a language
laboratory with multi-media capabilities, preferably at the supervisory level.

Non-Tenure Track, Spanish
Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 10,000 students
in graduate and undergraduate programs. The University is located in the borough
of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving
time of the diverse metropolitan areas Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and
within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The University is

Assistant Professor in Hispanic Cultural Studies
The Department of Hispanic and Latin American Studies at Macalester College
is seeking to fill a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level
beginning in September 2009. We seek candidates specializing in U.S. Latin@
Studies/Hispanic Peoples and Cultures. Candidates should have expertise in
Hispanic Cultural Studies, with a literary focus. Expertise in media and the
ability to teach courses in Hispanic/Latino expression would be advantageous.
It is expected that the successful candidate will forge curricular links between
the Department of Hispanic and Latin American Studies and other departments
such as Humanities, Media, and Cultural Studies, and American Studies. The
most qualified candidates will have experience in college or university teaching.

Spanish language program, including beginning and intermediate language classes,
as well as in the area of specialization. The candidate should have the PhD

Professor and Department Chair
The Department of Modern Languages of the University
of Akron invites applications for the position of Professor & Department
Chair, effective August 1, 2009. The initial term is for four years. Ph.D.
in subject area included within the department's area of expertise-foreign
languages-literatures-cultures required. In addition to excellent communication
and leadership skills, qualifications include administrative experience, a
record of scholarship, and successful teaching sufficient to qualify for tenure
at the rank of professor. All specializations appropriate to the department
will be considered, but some preference will be given to specialists in Spanish
language, literatures, and cultures.Responsibilities encompass departmental
governance, faculty development, undergraduate and graduate program development,
advocacy of the department's interests within the university, and budgetary
management. The chair will be expected to maintain an active scholarly agenda
and to teach their area of scholarly specialization. The college is currently
developing an academic initiative focused on Global Studies and the Modern
Languages Department will play a significant role in that effort. The salary
is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. The Department offers
accredited BA programs in French and Spanish, as well as beginning through

The Department of Modern Foreign Languages at the University
of Tennessee at Martin invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor position in Spanish starting Fall 2009. Responsibilities include
teaching Spanish language, literature, and civilization at all levels. Ability
to teach first-year courses in a second language offered by the department
- - Portuguese, French, Japanese, German - - is highly desirable. French preferred.
Applicants should possess a native or near-native command of the Spanish language
and should show a genuine commitment to undergraduate teaching and program
development. Familiarity with proficiency-based instruction and residence/study
in a Spanish-speaking country a plus. Applicants should also have experience
